What is the CM E-Bike Scheme?

The Chief Minister’s E-Bike Scheme is a Government of Punjab initiative delivered with the Transport & Mass Transit Department, Bank of Punjab and PITB. It is intended to help eligible students access electric bikes through supported financing.

Phase II was launched in September 2026. Public sources use different totals for earlier phases, new allocations and broader e-bike programmes, so this guide does not combine 100,000 and 125,000 as if they were the same measure. Confirm the current allocation and terms at bikes.punjab.gov.pk.

How to Apply

Go to the official portal:

bikes.punjab.gov.pk. Do not use any other site to submit personal information or payment every phase attracts fake “agent” pages.

Register:

with your CNIC, mobile number (it must be registered in your own name OTPs and status updates only reach a SIM registered on your own CNIC), and basic personal details.

Education:

Enter your education details institution, enrolment status.

License

Enter your driving license/learner’s permit details.

Documents

Upload your documents as specified on the portal.

Select Bike

Select your bike option where the portal offers a choice, and submit.

Application ID

Save your Application ID you’ll need it to check your status and any balloting result.

What happens after you Apply

Your documents go to Bank of Punjab for verification confirming your enrolment and checking your guarantor's credit history and income where a guarantor is required.
If applications exceed the available bikes, PITB runs a computerized random ballot within published quotas.
Selected applicants are notified by SMS and email, and the result is also shown on the portal.
After selection, BOP finalizes the financing agreement, and a dealer is assigned for bike collection.
CM Maryam Nawaz has directed that eligible, approved students should receive their bike within six weeks treat this as a target, not a guarantee, since actual timelines have run longer in earlier phases.

How to Avoid Them

Not receiving OTPs or status SMS: almost always because the SIM isn't registered on your own CNIC. Fix this before applying.
Application stuck at verification: usually a guarantor issue a bad credit history, unclear income proof, or a debt-burden ratio that's too high can hold up even a winning ballot entry.
Rejected for incomplete documents: the single most common rejection reason isn't ineligibility it's blurry scans or missing pages. Double-check every upload before submitting.
Fake websites and "agents": only bikes.punjab.gov.pk (and ptf.punjab.gov.pk for teachers) processes real applications. No genuine channel asks for a processing fee, mobile-wallet payment, or claims it can influence the ballot.

What you get with the bike

Reported inclusions for the September 2026 phase: a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack, a free helmet, a rear safety rod for carrying a passenger, and two days of government-arranged riding safety training. LiFePO4 packs are generally considered safer and longer-lasting than the older lithium-ion packs used in earlier phases.

How is this different from the PAVE scheme?

PAVE (Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Programme) is a separate, federal programme run by the Engineering Development Board under the Ministry of Industries and Production, open to citizens nationwide (not just Punjab), covering electric bikes, rickshaws, and loaders, and structured as a subsidy plus interest-free bank financing rather than a pure installment plan. The Punjab scheme is provincial, student-focused (for now), and delivered through Bank of Punjab specifically. Apply to the one that actually matches your situation they use different portals and different application processes, and being rejected from one has no bearing on the other.

How do I check my application status?

Use your Application ID and CNIC on the official portal. No third-party website has access to live government or bank records treat any site claiming otherwise as unreliable.

What if I'm not selected in the balloting?

In earlier phases, unselected applicants who passed verification generally remained in the pool for the next draw automatically. Confirm whether this still applies to the current phase.

Is a down payment required for the e-bike?

No down payment is required.

What is the financing period for the e-bike?

3 years.

Can I apply if I'm not a Punjab domicile holder?

Historically, out-of-province students have been able to apply for the e-bike (not petrol bike) category if their campus is physically located in an eligible Punjab city. Confirm this still applies for the current phase before assuming it.

Can teachers or government employees apply?

The Chief Minister gave in-principle approval to gradually expand the scheme to government employees, departments, and delivery riders, and teachers already apply separately through the PTF portal. The immediate September 2026 application window, as announced, is for students; check the portal for confirmation on when other categories open.
