CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2026: Electric Taxis, Eligibility & Latest Update

What is the CM E-Bike Scheme?

The Chief Minister’s E-Bike Scheme is a Government of Punjab initiative, delivered through the Transport & Mass Transit Department in partnership with the Bank of Punjab (financing) and the Punjab Information Technology Board (computerized balloting). It helps eligible Punjab students get an electric motorcycle or scooty on an interest-free installment plan, rather than students paying market price upfront.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a review meeting on 2 September 2026 and announced a significantly larger and more generous phase: over 125,000 e-bikes, with students paying zero down payment and roughly Rs. 3,000 a month, while the province covers the interest and insurance. Applications opened online on 4 September 2026.

Earlier phases of this scheme (2025 and early 2026) required an upfront down payment, so if you saw older information describing a required down payment, that’s now outdated for the new application window students applying now should confirm current terms directly on the portal, since final published guidelines can add detail the initial announcement didn’t cover.

Independent guide — not a government website.
We explain what’s publicly known in plain language. Official applications, when open, run only through government channels. We never collect CNICs, documents, payments, or credentials. Note: we’re still verifying the scheme’s dedicated application portal — this guide will be updated as official details are confirmed.

An electric taxi you own, driving for ride-hailing apps, with government backing — that’s the idea behind the CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme: youth employment meets electric vehicles. It’s one of the newer announcements, which means details are still emerging. Here’s what’s known, what’s not, and how to avoid getting scammed in the meantime.

The concept

  • Electric taxis provided/financed for Punjab youth.
  • Aimed at unemployed youth — drive it yourself on ride-hailing platforms or taxi routes.
  • Aligns with the province’s EV push (same direction as the E-Bike Scheme).

What’s confirmed vs what’s not

  • Confirmed: the scheme has been announced as a youth-employment + EV initiative.
  • Still being verified: the dedicated application portal, exact eligibility criteria, vehicle models, financing terms, and launch timeline.
  • We are tracking official announcements and will update this guide the moment the portal and terms are confirmed. Check back — or watch our Punjab schemes hub for updates.

What to do right now

  1. Don’t apply anywhere yet — any website currently claiming to accept E-Taxi applications is not official.
  2. Get your documents ready anyway: valid CNIC, driving license (you’ll almost certainly need one), Punjab domicile.
  3. If you’re serious about driving work, the Asaan Karobar Card (up to Rs 1M interest-free) is already live and could finance a vehicle independently.

Stay safe (important for announced-but-not-open schemes)

This is the danger window: the scheme is announced, people are excited, and scammers fill the gap with fake “pre-registration” websites collecting CNICs and “booking fees.” Rules:

  • No official portal = no real application. Period.
  • Never pay a “booking fee” for a scheme that hasn’t opened.
  • Never submit your CNIC to unofficial “pre-registration” forms.

Quick facts

  • Concept: electric taxis for Punjab youth employment
  • Status: announced; portal and terms being verified
  • Likely requirements: CNIC, driving license, Punjab domicile (to be confirmed)
