We explain the scheme in plain language. Applications, merit lists and distribution are handled only on the official HED portal linked below. We never collect CNICs, documents, payments, or credentials.
If you applied for the CM Punjab Laptop Scheme and you’re refreshing the merit list page for the tenth time today — this guide is for you. Here’s where the scheme stands right now, who qualifies, and the honest answer to the question every student is asking: “laptop kab milega?”
Where things stand (October 2026)
Phase 2 applications are closed. The government has announced distribution, which means merit lists are being finalized and laptops are being allocated district by district. If you applied, your job right now is simple: keep checking the official portal (link below) and keep your phone number active — distribution updates and collection notices come through official channels, not WhatsApp forwards.
Who was eligible?
- Punjab domicile students with a strong academic record.
- Matric, intermediate, and university students — merit-based selection at each level.
- Enrolled in a recognized institution.
The merit thresholds vary by district and level, which is why your friend in another district got selected with lower marks (or vice versa). District-wise merit is the part most “laptop scheme” rumors get wrong.
How to check the merit list
- Go to the official portal: cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk (Higher Education Department). Only this site.
- Look for the merit list / distribution update section.
- Search with your CNIC or application number.
- If selected, note your distribution point and date — laptops are handed over at designated centers, not couriered.
“Laptop kab milega?” — the honest answer
Distribution happens in phases by district and institution. There is no single date for everyone. Anyone on social media giving you an exact date for your district is guessing. The reliable sequence is: merit list → verification → distribution schedule on the portal → collection at your center. If your name is on the merit list, your laptop is coming — the only variable is which batch you’re in.
Stay safe
Two scams spike during every laptop distribution: (1) “Pay Rs 2,000 to confirm your laptop” messages — the scheme is free, there is no confirmation fee; (2) fake merit-list PDFs circulating on WhatsApp with a “check your name” link that steals your data. Check only on the official portal.
